NO-KILL SHELTERS

No-Kill Shelters. Since no-kill shelters are
not mandated by any government agency, they are also not typically
required to advertise. That can make them much more difficult to
locate. However, some do advertise, and some -- but not all -- may be
listed in your local phone books.
To locate as many no-kill shelters as possible, 1) search your local
phone book(s) as you would when searching for all pounds or Humane
Societies; 2) watch your local papers daily (but definitely on Sunday), especially the Pets for Sale
section, since no-kill shelters often advertise their pet adoptions
there - and don't forget the very small neighborhood papers; 3) surf the web to look for them in your wide-area location; 4)
watch Craig's List online; 5) search
Pets for Sale columns in your local online newspaper(s);
6) watch for bulletin board ads and Found posters. Again, be sure to
carefully review Section IV -- especially Section IV-c -- for tips and
details regarding shelters.
